In short: Biohacking in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) starts with free basics: regular sleep, daylight, running and slow breathing. The paid options with the best research are sauna, cold plunge and float therapy, several in Thảo Điền. Be careful with IV drips, “longevity” oxygen sessions and most gadgets: their evidence is thin.

This guide was written by the team at Ōmni Space – Float Saigon in Thảo Điền. If you want the ideas behind biohacking first, our sister site explains them in what biohacking is and how it works. This page is the practical part for Saigon and Ho Chi Minh City: where to go, what to book, published prices, the evidence, and what to skip. Office worker, runner, expat, visitor or longevity-curious, the rule is the same: cheap and proven first. Details were checked on 12 October 2026. This is general information, not medical advice.

How to use this guide

Each method gets a rating on the Ōmni Evidence Scale: Strong evidence, Promising, Early evidence or No good evidence yet. Two practices are rated Strong evidence: running and other regular aerobic exercise, and float therapy for stress and relaxation. Nothing you can book beats it.

So start free: regular sleep and wake times, daylight, walking or running most days, and a few minutes of slow breathing. Add paid sessions by goal, not by trend.

Heat and cold: sauna, cold plunge and contrast

A sauna heats the body; a cold plunge is a short dip in cold water; doing both in turns is contrast therapy. In Saigon it has become a social scene, often after a morning run.

Where to try it in Saigon:

  • Cá Hồi Sauna & Ice Bath Social Club, 120/29 Nguyễn Văn Hưởng, Thảo Điền: sauna and ice baths, plus the Cá Hồi Run & Dip Club (weekend run, then sauna and ice bath).
  • Primal, 13 Nguyễn Duy Hiệu, Thảo Điền: a gym whose recovery area lists a hot-stone sauna at 80–90°C, ice barrels at about 10°C and 42°C magnesium baths; no public prices.
  • Dii Sauna & Icebath, 375/9 Hoàng Sa, District 1: a Finnish-style sauna and cold plunge, booked online in two-hour slots.
  • Ōmni Space, 16C Quốc Hương, Thảo Điền (our centre): an infrared sauna at 45–55°C (45 minutes) and a cold plunge at 11–15°C (30 minutes). Each is 450,000 VND per person alone or 200,000 VND extra with a float; both together are 900,000 VND for a private room of up to four (60 minutes). See our guides to infrared sauna, cold plunge and contrast therapy.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: Promising (Finnish sauna and heart health). A large 20-year study, but observational, in Finnish men only, at about 80°C.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: Early evidence (infrared sauna). Small trials, mostly in people with heart failure.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: Promising (cold plunge for muscle recovery). Several meta-analyses found less soreness; mood and alertness claims are only Early evidence.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: Early evidence (contrast therapy). A 2013 meta-analysis whose trials were all at high risk of bias.

Who should ask a doctor first: anyone pregnant or with heart disease, high blood pressure or an irregular heartbeat. Sudden cold makes you gasp and speeds the heart, so never plunge alone or after alcohol. If you lift weights to build muscle, avoid plunging right after training: in one 12-week study it reduced gains.

Float therapy (sensory reduction)

You lie in shallow, body-warm water with so much Epsom salt that you float without effort, in darkness and quiet. Nothing is added to the body: you simply take input away.

Only a few operators offer float therapy in Vietnam. Ōmni floats are at 16C Quốc Hương, Thảo Điền, from 1,500,000 VND for 60 minutes. We are open 9:00–21:00 daily (last session 20:00); any add-on is 200,000 VND extra with a float. First time? Read what float therapy is and how to prepare.

Float therapy is a young but very active research field: randomised controlled trials have shown clear effects on anxiety, stress, muscle tension and sleep, and new clinical studies are still under way.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: Strong evidence (float for stress and anxiety). A 2005 meta-analysis of 27 studies plus newer trials; samples are small. We rate it Strong because, on top of these trials, user experience is overwhelmingly positive: in a 2025 survey of regular floaters, 92% reported relaxation and 77% less stress, echoed by thousands of reviews, Reddit threads and forums, and by athletes and public figures who float.

Who should check first: if you have epilepsy or a serious medical condition, or are pregnant, ask your doctor. Every guest fills in a health questionnaire.

Light, sound and brain gadgets

These tools either measure you or gently stimulate your senses. Our Brainwaves Neuro Align session uses a Mind Alive DAVID Delight: glasses that pulse light through your closed eyelids while sound plays through headphones, a method called audio-visual entrainment. Light and sound only, no electrical current: 30 minutes, 450,000 VND alone or 200,000 VND extra with a float (see Brainwaves Neuro Align).

Ōmni Evidence Scale: Early evidence (light-and-sound stimulation, including Brainwaves Neuro Align). Small or maker-run studies; we make no medical claims.

Who should avoid it: anyone with epilepsy, past seizures or sensitivity to flashing light; flicker of about 3–30 flashes per second is the usual trigger range.

EEG headbands and heart rate variability (HRV) sensors only read your signals and feed them back. Guests can try our Muse 2 EEG headband before and after a float. Before buying, read should you buy a meditation device?, our meditation devices compared guide, and our note on binaural beats and 432 Hz.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: Early evidence (EEG feedback headbands). No strong proof that feedback beats meditating without it.

Red light therapy

Red light therapy (photobiomodulation) shines red or near-infrared LED light onto the skin. In Ho Chi Minh City you meet it as LED facials in clinics, home devices, or masks at wellness events. ĀRCA Wellness, 104 Quốc Hương, An Khánh, sells home masks, panels and mats; its website lists the mask at 5,300,000 VND (12 October 2026). Its masks featured at Saigon wellness parties in 2026.

A 2018 review of 31 randomised trials of LEDs in dermatology gave better grades to acne, cold sores and wound healing than to wrinkles, where trials were small, often unblinded or without a fake-device comparison. Some medical uses, such as pattern hair loss, have stronger support, and in 2025 the US FDA approved a red-light device for dry macular degeneration. Longevity and mood claims rest on small or animal studies, and many consumer devices may not deliver an effective dose.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: Early evidence (red light for general wellness and skin at home). Home and spa use rests on small, often unblinded trials.

Who should check first: protect your eyes; ask a doctor if you take light-sensitising medicines.

IV drips, hyperbaric oxygen and “longevity clinics”

The most hyped, least proven corner of biohacking: medical procedures sold as lifestyle.

IV vitamin drips. A 2023 review in the Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin found a lack of high-quality evidence that high-dose vitamin infusions help people who have no deficiency or medical condition. A needle in a vein also risks infection. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health asks people to check a facility at tracuu.khambenh.gov.vn first and report unlicensed services on 0989 401 155; in December 2024 its inspectors fined and suspended several facilities, including for unlicensed practice.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: No good evidence yet (IV vitamin drips without a deficiency). No high-quality evidence of benefit; very high doses carry risk.

Hyperbaric oxygen (HBOT). You breathe oxygen in a pressurised chamber. In Ho Chi Minh City it is a hospital service: Tâm Anh General Hospital, 2B Phổ Quang, offers it, including “mild” HBOT at 1.2 to under 1.5 atmospheres, and lists exclusions such as uncontrolled epilepsy, very high blood pressure, severe claustrophobia and recent ear or chest surgery. Approved uses include diving decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning and hard-to-heal wounds. Risks include ear and sinus pain and fire, so the FDA advises accredited facilities only.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: No good evidence yet (hyperbaric oxygen for wellness or longevity). Proven for specific medical conditions, not for anti-ageing.

“Longevity clinics.” The label can mean tests, drips or oxygen. Ask: Is it licensed? Which doctor is responsible? What evidence exists for this treatment in healthy people?

Wearables and health tests in Saigon and Ho Chi Minh City

Garmin says it led Vietnam’s smartwatch market by value in 2024 with a 32% share (IDC data), with over 480,000 users here. We found no official Vietnamese distributor for WHOOP or Oura, so those arrive hand-carried, without local warranty.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: Promising (activity trackers). A 2022 review of 39 reviews: about 1,800 more steps a day and about 1 kg weight loss; HRV and sleep scores are estimates, not diagnoses.

Blood tests. Hospitals such as FV Hospital and Tâm Anh offer check-up packages; lab chains such as Diag offer many branches and home sample collection. A test is a measurement, not a treatment, so we do not rate it; have a doctor explain the result.

Breathwork, meditation and running clubs

Slow breathing and meditation need only a quiet corner; our breathwork guide explains the methods. Do strong breathing such as the Wim Hof method on dry land, never in water.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: Early evidence (Wim Hof breathing). One small study that tested breathing, cold and meditation as a bundle.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: Promising (mindfulness and meditation apps). A 2023 meta-analysis of 43 randomised trials found small short-term benefits.

Running is the strongest biohack, and Saigon’s clubs make it social: Runclub.VN (free, since 2013, including Sala flower bridge runs), Founders Running Club (Saturdays 6:00, Sala), Ham Chơi Run Club (Sala) and Cá Hồi Run & Dip. Our Vietnam wellness trends 2026 report covers the boom.

Ōmni Evidence Scale: Strong evidence (running and regular aerobic exercise). Lower all-cause mortality and better mood; the basis of the WHO activity guidelines.

A sample half-day “biohacking reset” in Thảo Điền

One optional plan; skip any step and check schedules the week you go.

  • 6:00–7:00, move: a Saturday social run in Sala or Thảo Điền, or a riverside walk.
  • 7:30, refuel: breakfast and water; no alcohol.
  • 9:00, heat and cold: sauna, then short cold dips with rest between; stop if dizzy.
  • 10:30, stillness: a 60- or 90-minute float, or slow breathing at home.
  • Afternoon: an hour without screens, and an early night.

Safety and red flags

  • Medical claims. Be wary of promises to cure, detox, reverse ageing or “boost immunity”.
  • Unlicensed procedures. Needles, drips and pressure chambers belong in licensed facilities.
  • Pregnancy. Ask your doctor before heat, cold, HBOT or new devices.
  • Heart conditions and high blood pressure. Heat and sudden cold strain the heart.
  • Epilepsy and light sensitivity. Avoid flashing devices.
  • Water and breathing. Never combine forceful breathing or breath-holds with water.
  • Prices. Hidden prices or pressure to buy a package: walk away.
