Can’t Sleep in Saigon? A 4-Week Float Therapy Plan for Better Sleep

Floating for Sleep Optimization: The Science Behind Deep Rest

In short: if stress keeps you awake, try three 90-minute floats in your first two weeks, then float every one to two weeks, alongside a simple sleep diary and an evening routine. Floating is a relaxation tool, not a replacement for medical care when insomnia persists.

Saigon never really switches off: traffic late into the night, work messages after 10 pm, iced coffee at 4 pm. Many guests tell us they lie in bed with a racing mind, or fall asleep fine but wake at 3 am. This is a practical guide: how to use floating, how often, and what to do at home so the results last.

For the science behind it, see Floating for Better Sleep.

Why floating makes sleep easier

Each pool holds about 500 kg of Epsom salt in skin-temperature water, so you float without any effort. With light and sound switched off, your brain has almost nothing to process. Many people experience a real “off switch” for the first time, and fall asleep more easily that night.

Research points the same way: in a 2014 study, people who floated 12 times over seven weeks reported less stress, anxiety and pain, and better sleep. A 2018 PLOS ONE study found that a single one-hour float substantially reduced anxiety, one of the most common reasons people can’t sleep.

A 4-week plan

WhenFloatingAt home
Week 1Float 1 (90 min): settle in, just lie back and breatheStart a sleep diary; no coffee after noon
Week 2Floats 2 and 3 (90 min), 2–4 days apartFixed bedtime and wake time, weekends included
Week 3Rest, or one 60–90 min float if it’s a stressful weekScreens off 1 hour before bed, dim the lights
Week 4One 90 min float, optionally with a sauna firstReview the diary: time to fall asleep, night wakings
A suggested plan for stress-related sleep problems. Adjust it to how you feel.

The first three floats should be close together, because the body needs a few sessions to learn to fully let go in the water. That’s why the Introduction Package is three 90-minute floats. After four weeks, many people keep floating every one to two weeks.

What time of day is best?

  • Late afternoon or early evening is the favourite of guests who struggle to sleep: you go home still relaxed.
  • If your stress starts in the morning, a midday float is a good mid-day reset.
  • Ōmni Space is open 9:00–21:00 every day, with walk-ins until 18:00. Book ahead to secure your preferred time.

What to combine it with

  • Infrared sauna before floating (45 min): warms the body and loosens muscles before you enter the pool. Only +200,000 VND with a float.
  • Brainwaves Neuro Align (30 min): light and sound therapy for a busy mind. +200,000 VND with a float.
  • Skip the cold plunge right before bedtime if cold exposure leaves you wide awake.

Keep a simple sleep diary

Each morning, write four lines: when you went to bed, roughly how long it took to fall asleep, how many times you woke up, and how rested you feel (1–5). Mark the nights after a float. After two to four weeks you will see a clear trend instead of guessing.

When to see a doctor

Floating is deeply relaxing, but it is not a medical treatment. See a doctor if you have trouble sleeping three or more nights a week for over three months, snore loudly or stop breathing during sleep, feel so sleepy during the day that it affects work, or if poor sleep comes with ongoing low mood or anxiety. For chronic insomnia, cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is the recommended first-line treatment; floating can sit alongside it as a relaxation tool.

FAQs

Can float therapy cure insomnia?

No. Floating is not a medical treatment. It is a deep relaxation tool that reduces stress, a common cause of poor sleep, and a 2014 study found people who floated 12 times over seven weeks reported better sleep. If insomnia lasts more than three months, see a doctor.

How many floats until I notice a difference?

Many people sleep more easily the night after their first float, but the effect is usually clearer and more lasting after three sessions close together. After that, floating every one to two weeks works well for many guests.

Should I float in the morning or the evening?

People who struggle to sleep often choose late afternoon or early evening so they go home relaxed. Ōmni Space is open 9:00–21:00, with walk-ins until 18:00; booking ahead secures your time.

Is it dangerous to fall asleep in the pool?

No. The Epsom salt water is so dense that you stay afloat even if you fall asleep. Dozing off for a while during a float is completely normal.
